The Magic Flatscreen

Author: Troy Augustus Carpenter

The Knoses seem to be a normal family. Parents Morris and Leslie work as the mayor of their town and a self-defense instructor respectively, while completely unaware their children Jayson (boy, age 12) and Jessica (girl, age 11) discovered a "secret" tv channel that seems to let them view and listen to key moments in history. In reality though, what they are watching is scripted satire. Not only do they witness "history", they provide hilariously oblivous commentary. The format is similiar to "The Magic Treehouse" series, except for half of the time is spent not viewing the past and with everyday problems. Each issue will be short enough to read in a single sitting by teens and adults. Some of the humor is too dark for kids; in addition, they may find it thematically and satirically too sophisticated. The target audience is teens/adults who will understand most of the satire.
